Problem with sending goods over 20 Kilo’s

18 Jan

Yesterday, i had to send an item as two separate packages rather than one because only 20 kilo’s can sent to South Korea, the problem is that the Czech post book does not show this. As the postal book does not show this, i presented a package to the post office of 22.5 kilo’s and was unable to post, had to re-pack into two box’s. This ended up costing me extra, and also wasted many extra hours of my time.

Unable to give the right quote for postage to the buyer…so i loose on this transaction.

Can you give me the reason why Czech post does not explain these postal rules, in the post book?
Can you direct me to a link on the web, where it shows what countries i can send more than 20 Kilo’s? in Czech or English is fine.
Can Czech post assure me that in the future text’s published, the office will show the correct weights and prices?

czech postal tracking complaint

18 Jan

This is general complaint about Czech post: This complaint is being sent to Czech post, Czech post management, Czech postal ombudsman, and the EU competition regulations Authority

I’d like to know when Czech post might start to update international shipping so that when the package arrives it shows up on the Czech website when the tracking details are entered. Currently in order for me to get confirmation of a delivery, i have to contact Mr Chroma, and he has to follow up. An email from Czech post saying that the item is delivered, is not good enough for paypal or a credit card company. Paypal or a credit card company need your official website to show the information, before i can get funds back that have been paid out as a result of economy shipping. Do you understand the problem?

This is what happend to me recently.

-i sent goods to Australia, buyer paid through paypal.
-buyer started a dispute through paypal, even though he knew that the goods would take 3 months to post
-because czech post tracking is only updated when the goods leave the country, paypal paid the buyer back (tracking needs to be updated every 20 days for the buyer not to be paid)
-i have sent goods, yet the buyer also has been paid what he paid for the goods, curent loss= 120 dollars. This is not a good situation.
-in order to combat this problem, i have had Czech post send a notice to the Australian post-office asking that the goods not be delivered.
-in normal circumstances this would mean the same shipping time back to me here in Czech.

Currently the system you have in place is very bad for sellers using any international payments system. Can Czech post please change the system, so it complies with other countries tracking systems. It further complicated the issue, as you advertise on your website this information.

“On this page you can check the status of any trackable item that you sent through the post. Find out whether it has already been delivered to or refused by the addressee, or whether it is ready for collection at the post office of delivery.”

“The following services can be tracked: Commercial Parcel (Domestic or International), Mail Order Parcel, Insured Parcel, Insured Letter, Standard Parcel (Domestic or International), EMS (all kinds).”

Under the definition of paypal and credit card companies, Czech post is not providing tracking information. Czech post is providing only information of when the item leaves the country.

I hope you can update the system, so it fits with all western european tracking systems and update your website to indicate the truth about your current tracking system. So that paypal and the credit card companies understand your system.

the item arrived to my customer smashed,, what do i do?

9 Oct

Every item shipped out of the Czech republic has insurance, yet this insurance is not easy to get back. Each item over 1 kilo, carries a certain amount of insurance, this is calculated on weight and has initial amount (shall update soon). In order to get the insurance for a smashed item from Czech post, the item has to be sent back to the Czech republic, its not possible for the buyer to get the insurance in her/his country. Also, as was the case in Indonesia, the country refused to take the item back. So for me to get insurance from Czech post the buyer would have had to have sent the item back to the Czech republic.

This is my story with an item. Item posted to Indonesia.

1) The item arrives smashed.
2) Czech post instruct me to tell the buyer to take them item back to the post office.
3) Post office in Indonesia does not take item back.
4) Buyer has signed for the item, yet the item is smashed, buyer did not know he could not pick up.
5) Ebay give buyer back his money, buyer does not ship item back. I loose money, no return on item. Loss of 170 dollars.
6) I complain to ebay, ebay realize they have made a mistake, as the buyer did not send proof of return.
7) Insured item broke in postal transit, unable to make insurance claim. Czech post office unable to communicate with Indonesia post. Contacted Czech ombudsman about issue. In the end it was Ebay who foot the bill for Czech post/ Indonesian post negligence.

I loose a good customer, extreamly upset by huge amount of communications. Czech post make no apology nor are they unable to follow up on the issue, or respond to questions. Czech post unable to send me to any web link, as to how to deal with an insurance claim. Told that if i have any insurance claim with post office that i need to bring a person with me that speaks Czech, not one person in post office that serves central area of prague speaks english. Czech ombudsman, starts to send me correspondence back in Czech post.

In the end Czech post know that they have a monopolistic situation, they deal with things as they choose.

Why i made this blog

8 Oct

I’ve just started an ebay business in the Czech republic, i started the business in my flat and now i move to a different space. The thing with Czech post is that its very different to Australian post. In Australia, most people that work in the post office are able to deal with any issue that you bring to the counter. In Czech, you have a department for each issue. Czech post is not easy to use as a foreign person. Rather than going in and being served in the post office, in Czech you really have to in kinda of way serve the post office. Its similar with many services in Czech, partly this comes from the history, and partly its just this way cause they can get away with it.
